A Little More with Lynn: Supporting our people

The McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation has been inspiring our community to engage in charitable giving and philanthropy that promotes the health and wellness of Greater Lansing for over forty years. We are committed to utilizing the community's gifts of time, money, and passion to assist McLaren Greater Lansing in obtaining the equipment, programs, and personnel required to provide outstanding patient care. In 2022, alongside our multi-million dollar capital campaign, we also made a significant contribution of over $190,000 to McLaren Greater Lansing to advance healthcare excellence.

We will continue to make substantial investments in equipment and technology to attract the finest healthcare professionals to our region and guarantee that local families receive the best possible care without having to travel outside the region.

This year, the Foundation Board and staff have prioritized investing in our people, in addition to equipment and technology. We are dedicated to supplying funds to support the more than 2,000 extraordinary individuals who make up the MGL staff. We believe that supporting our caregivers by investing in programs that promote their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being enables them to provide the best possible care to our community.

Here are some recent examples:

  • A $25,000 grant to support our Employee Wellness program.

  • Assistance to our Graduate Medical Education program to ensure that our residents and fellows have access to fresh, healthy food 24/7.

  • Funding for our music therapy program, which benefits both patients and staff.

  • Purchasing white lab coats for nursing leadership.

  • Supporting Michigan State University's future DOcs program

  • Launching our Guardian Angel program, which enables patients and family members to honor caregivers who have made a difference in their loved one's hospital stay.

  • Grant funding to support Nurse’s Week and Doctors' Day.

Furthermore, we allow any MGL staff member to apply for Mini-Grants of up to $2,000 if they identify a need in their department that will improve patient care. Mini-Grants empower our staff to be innovative and use their expertise and knowledge to shape the future of our hospital.
