McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation raises over $90,000 during The Campaign for Care Day of Giving
We have a lot to be thankful for. While gratitude, in general, is very common this time of year, here at McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation we were blown away by the generosity of this community during our very first Day of Giving.
While we knew canceling the Annual Gala for the safety of everyone was the right call, the need for philanthropic dollars did not disappear. In fact, it is growing daily. As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise here in Mid-Michigan, the Foundation’s commitment to helping McLaren Greater Lansing rises too.
“We see our caregivers trying to provide the best patient care they can every day, when they come to us and ask for something to make patient outcomes better or their jobs a little easier, we try very hard to say yes,” said Lynn Griffor, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Canceling the Annual Gala could have meant turning down more grant applications this upcoming year but pivoting to an online Day of Giving and asking our Annual Gala donors to reallocate their funds allows the Foundation to continue to say “yes.”
Through sponsorships and event day donations the Foundation was able to raise over $90,000 on November 19th. These funds were designated to different areas including: the new hospital project, scholarships, specific departments, and COVID-19 relief.
“This community never ceases to amaze me with their support,” said Rachel Turek, Special Event Coordinator for the Foundation. “Sending the gala cancelation email was hard but having both previous and new sponsors sign up for an event they’ve never seen before was a true representation of what is means to love Lansing and trust the Foundation to be good stewards of their donation.”
The Campaign for Care Day of Giving ran from midnight to 11:59 p.m. on November 19th. Most of the action could be found on the Foundation’s Facebook page including videos from sponsors, information on the project, and quotes from grateful patients.
